Using a Mandrel

An expanding mandrel shown mounted using a collet & a live center. All of them can also be mounted
in-between centers & driven with a
lathe dog.
Tighten &
loosen by tapping on the sleeve with a hard
plastic-faced mallet.
This part example has a non-standard 39/64 (0.6054" or 15.377mm) inside diameter.

Expanding Arbors

Eight expanding
arbors ¼" to 1¼". Mount in the lathe, expand with the screw, & then
machine to size.
Tapered Lathe Mandrels

Small, tapered lathe mandrels in ⅛"
to 15/32" by 1/32" sizes. Held between centers & driven with a dog.
Standard taper of 0.0005″ per inch with the size marked at the larger end where
a flat is provided for the dog.
Made of hardened tool steel precision ground to size.
